Howling to the Moon -- 2

By William Markiewicz

Usually random thoughts are left ‘in storage’ for eventual use but, if the wait is long, I let them stand on their own for better or worse. I hope nothing is repeated; if yes, please let me know. The first 'Howling' appeared in January 07. -- See Howling 1 . . . and Howling 3 . . .

Howler

    Goal

  1. Time brings nothing, intuition is insufficient. There must be directing thought. For this we have the ship’s captain, willing or unwilling. Whatever is past/future, in the present don’t turn in a sealed egg. There is nothing to look for far away because I encounter myself in what stimulates me and then I digest it intellectually; it’s my ‘photosynthesis.’ Everything has to be left where it belongs without thinking of ‘priorities’; if you need, for instance, to comb your hair, you cannot think about whether it brings you youth, health, luck in love, impressions and desires. You will not reject the bag of life because it becomes empty. Don’t wait for death or for youth’s return. ‘Mind’ is not a panacea. The universe is governed by Calvinistic, Darwinistic rules. We don’t know their rhythm, harmonies, like we don’t know, for instance, the rules directing creativity; here another dimension rules. Instinct doesn’t have a path to follow that is known to us, meaning, willing-intelligent behaviour (well defined nervous system). Therefore instinct remains a big mystery of life. How can there exist intelligent (complex, useful) outcome without intelligent design?

    Evolution/Revolution

  2. Routine = fading, evolution = selective survival, revolution = a mainly energetic act of life. Energy = reaction of matter to matter. Revolution = quantum leap, impossible to fully predict, meaning to control. It’s also dominance of conflict over balance. Revolution = youth , meaning living your life energetically, going toward unknown, throwing everything forward at once: thought, emotion, physical experience. Describing life is not living life. Evolution is following a directive like a masted ship goes with the wind.

    Legs

  3. Instead of letting yourself be carried by leaves on the wind, it’s better to walk or stand on your feet like the trees with their roots. To act or react means to follow or resist. To choose may also be a form of submission. When you walk on your feet you follow the trail you have at your disposal. You will not choose nothingness because it’s easiest; you will not avoid time by not using it. The legs which pull you into psychological or physical situations, draw you into reality and you are the active element of existence. Walking, you cooperate without being a seed. Legs are a good thing but I would like to be engaged by my soul. I remain immobile on an immobile leaf. The entire world is part of your cage. “Walking on two legs” is mine from 9 to 5, meaning, no escape: it’s better to walk than being dragged. It’s a difficult situation if time and space tempt and have nothing to offer. Each motivation has to rest on two legs: hope, resignation.

The country of ocean far away, I present the dance of my soul because nothing else will dance. The fisherman on a magical lake will catch nothing; I am waiting until something jumps out and from the ocean country nothing comes.

From now, go with small steps from one small goal to another small goal. Accept limits as one more heroic act.

    Surrealism

  4. Surrealism is a little bit of realism, of poetry, of nostalgias and who knows what else. Let’s not forget that we are an evolutionary collage; free running particles initially having nothing to do with each other, they somehow got caught by nature and glued into our genetic structure. They became involved in teeth, blood, digestive systems... Our brain, which is a union station for all interior activities and exterior connections, is a niche, conscious and unconscious, for everything that’s going on in us. The basic expression of logic is the shortest connection of the straight line, of a surface mind, the military mind; the soldier knows he is not here to win the war but to conquer the bridge. Limited and unquestionable notions are the basis for animals' and our own survival.
