Sometimes I don't receive an answer to my request to publish a letter and I don't know how to interpret it. So I've decided to simplify things and not oblige readers to answer. The most recent letters are at the top of the page.

Re: "Prison Musing" (This issue)

William,
Don't you think that, in relation to your observations, the fact of boredom, is the lack of (absence of) an immediate life survival challenge.

But, if one accepts what you say, then broken down to the basics, that you posit, the across the globe:-

1. Every President or leader;
2. Every University Professor;
3. A range of persons who are not doubtful or desperate for their next meal.

Are all within the range that you have defined.

Re: "The World Burns" (November 2009 issue)

William,
[In The World Burns (12/08)] You said:-
“Probably the only solution for America and its allies is to leave Iraq and Afghanistan to themselves no matter what cataclysms it may provoke. It is the only way possible toward ending intercontinental wars”

I agree – however – the “great game” is about resource domination and hegemony – so – this rational choice is unlikely to be made anytime soon.

Let it implode then. But, the US does not want what happened to the then Soviet Union between 1979 to 1989 happen to the “US Empire” – but still it persists. Sensible? Inevitable? You say!

Courtenay (www.globaljusticeonliine.com)
...............................................................

1.Sensible?
Is it sensible (not) “ …to leave Iraq and Afghanistan to themselves no matter what cataclysms it may provoke.”, when about a million are dead in Iraq; the wars are lasting longer than World War 11; there is no victory in sight…..and if all this is taken together then is it not “cataclysmic” enough? (Courtenay)

We cannot go back in time and repair the past but to stay can only perpetrate the cataclysm. Therefore to leave the civil war territories is the best possible remaining solution. To prevent terrorism following the retroceding West, a warning should be enough: "If you want to perpetrate war, you will be the main sufferer." I think that they are tired of war with the West and the Western absence will suffice to keep them away. (WM)

2. Inevitable?
There is a “great game” of global domination and hegemony being conducted. The Russians were defeated in Afghanistan as had been the British before them. Now the Americans are in the same arena playing a similar war game. Is it inevitable that these types of wars must waged if the options are viewed “sensibly” - is it “inevitable” that endless wars are the only future for humankind? In other words, do you see it as inevitable that the wars must be waged and an alternative peaceful global architecture cannot sensibly ( add – “humanely”) be configured? (Courtenay)

In my view, the endless wars were and are a mistake ("It's more than a crime, it's a mistake" -- Talleyrand) and this truth must flash into the public eye, the sooner the better. (WM)

The ABCs of US foreign policy on oil – past decade.

A. GWB and Cheney were “oil men” who realised that the US was running low and that the global oil supply was diminishing because developing countries ( India, China etc.) were demanding more oil from the same global pool. The price of oil would rise overtime as supply diminished and demand increased. A reasonable person would implement conservation strategies and new technologies to produce energy ( e.g. what Carter had advocated from the 1970s). But, the world is not run by reasonable people, but by the “oil men” and crooks – so on to B.

B. WMDs were lied about in Iraq. A war was fabricated. Now longer than World War 11 the US is fighting to dominate oil policy and supplies in Iraq and run a long oil pipeline across Afghanistan. But the wars are not being won – so on to C.

C. Iran has substantial supplies of oil as does Venezuela. If the US, or its proxy – Israel, were to attack Iran, then ,literally, World War 111 could break out. The Straits of Hormuz is the point where all the Middle Eastern oil must exit, and Iran is able to block this if Iran is attacked. Additionally, the country is about three times as large as Iraq, and unlike Iraq, is well armed. The US ,as Hillary Clinton said, could “obliterate” Iran – but it is not Iran that wants to control and attack the US, it is the other way around. So, dumb as Bush was, even he realised that it would lead to global catastrophe if Iran were attacked. Oil supplies would grind to a halt, long war with Iran would ensue – thus – no war, for there was no oil supply solution with that strategy. So, onwards to Venezuela. Consider carefully what the US is doing – establishing seven military bases in Columbia. Why? Answer: to fight a proxy war; seek to change the politics of Venezuela – and – dominate the oil.

When you watch this video clip of Cheney – from the time of Daddy Bush when he double-crossed Saddam and Saddam, wrongly and contrary to international law, invaded Kuwait (see: – http://crooksandliars.com/comment/permalink/86573) then the reverse process when the US invades Iraq, becomes so ironic. The great lies and wickedness of the actions of the crooks who run the world now becomes very obvious – as easy as A,B,C. Wickedness in high and low places – and may they go to hell – and not blow up the majority of decent humanity with their mad, so-called strategic foreign policy. Bunch of greedy, power hungry idiots!

*N.B. Despite the title of the video – it is not a video about lawyers!
