Je crois qu'il y a deux erreurs: d'abord, l'écrivain Guy Le Cars n'existe pas à ma connaissance, tu parles certainement de Guy des Cars, un romancier populaire d'origine aristocratique, qui a écrit un roman nommé "Le château de la Juive." La seconde erreur, c'est que l'auteur de livre "Les Juifs" n'est pas Guy Des Cars, mais Alain Peyrefitte. Vérifie si tu veux, mais j'en suis sûr.
Ludwin points out that the book, "The Jews" was written by Alain Peyrefitte and not by Guy Le Cars. Thanks Ludwin, it has been corrected. What confounded me is probably the fact that Guy des Cars (not Le Cars) wrote a book, "The Castle of the Jewess" (full of stereotypes) and the similarity of the titles distracted me. WM

I was interested in your take on the elections in Quebec. If, as you
say, no people should be forced to live with each other, e.g. Bosnia,
Northern Ireland, etc., what does the separatists' narrow margin of
victory mean to Canada? Bouchard and the separatists cannot act with
impunity but are waiting for an opportunity for another referendum to
present itself. It is clear that a significant number of people in
Quebec do not wish to secede. I assume nobody in Canada wants Quebec to
be "Balkanized." What now?

P.S. I hope that if the Canadian Federalists try to forcibly stop Quebec from seceding then NATO will act accordingly and bomb Toronto! You know, Hussein, Milosevic, Chretien...
Andrew -- As you know, the writer Peter Handke gave an interview in Belgrade (!) meaning, where nobody needs it because everybody agrees in advance. The whole world remains unaware because nobody has even bothered to translate it into English. As far as I know it has only been reproduced in Srpska-Mreza for its readers. Below are Peter Handke's (Nobel Prize nominee) points:

Don't you see, Andrew, as I do, what a powerful message it would be in a poster? People wearing it as placards on chest and back, walking in crowded places ( I suppose it isn't forbidden in a democracy)., pasted on the walls, distributed by thousands among the crowds. How would you ever reach the grass roots if you let yourself be silenced to death? There is not one single Serbian institution that will try to become vocal and visible for a change. From my observations, all that the few active Serbs are doing is to exchange feelings among themselves or to write protest letters to hostile individuals who don't care while the public remains uninformed. Apparently the Serbs have become accustomed to being beaten dogs. When strong people lose heart, it never ends at the halfway point. WM
