-- from one of Mussolini's speeches. Goering himself declared: "When I hear the word ‘culture’ I pull my gun." Now Canada is looking for "pride and glory" -- where? -- In Afghanistan! Those Canadians who democratically elected the Canadian warlords are responsible. The war's virus has spread from the south. What does Canada have to look for in Afghanistan? It's a deeply archaic country that remains in Dark Ages similar to Europe’s early Middle Ages. To change nations, to obliterate centuries of history by conquest, is like surgically changing the color of one's skin.
The latent state of war never stopped smoldering in Iraq and Afghanistan; in Iraq for mostly religious reasons, in Afghanistan, Genghis Khan’s armies never conquered the native Pashtun. Came the West and, in Iraq, broke Saddam's artificial dam that prevented Shiites and Sunnis from attacking each other. In Afghanistan, the West has resurrected Genghis Khan’s war by forming the ‘Northern Alliance’ against Pashtun's Taliban.
The invasion of Afghanistan started in the frame of fighting terrorism - but how did terrorism start? Nobody wants to remember the little snowball that started the devastating avalanche. Who remembers Rabin's murder which brutally stopped the peace process in all its beauty? The murderer achieved his goal; the process dropped dead, terrorism was reborn from the ashes. The powerful brandished the banner of their power, the weaker responded with September 11, and all hell broke loose with no end in sight. If Israel were willing right now to: 1. quit the West Bank, 2. quit the Golan Heights, 3. quit the Old City in Jerusalem, it would automatically disconnect itself from the vicious circle and leave the mess on the shoulders of the invaders of Afghanistan and Iraq. The invaders didn't want to remember that Iraq’s oil is cheaper bought than conquered.
