Re: "Who Cares?" ...
Sometimes I don't receive an answer to my request to publish a letter and I don't know how to interpret it. So I've decided to simplify things and not oblige readers to answer. The most recent letters are at the top of the page.

Dear William -- in the November 2008 issue of Vagabond, I read the answer you gave to the Jew hater’s comment, ‘Who Cares?’ about how many millions of Jews died. You answered,. "Who cares? You would! Anybody would, if the Jews had been armed and trained to fight … " It brought to mind what I saw in Cracow ghetto: a young SS man with a revolver in hand was giving orders to a group of Hassidic Jews gathered in a square. He probably had them waiting for the truck which would take them to their death. I was, of course, at a distance but close enough to see their faces and what drew my attention was the tranquility they expressed. At first I thought that the Rabbi had probably prepared them for their death. I was a very young boy, maybe eleven, but I remember thinking: Why didn't the Rabbi prepare them to fight for their lives and die with honor, taking as many enemies as they could with them. So, years later in America, our thoughts have encountered each other.
