I read William's article. I wonder if Australian's have large, impractical windows because they are of English descent - those who get to see the sun only on rare occasions! And a quick recollection of my time in Lebanon - when I was there, I did not see a single cedar, even up in the mountains where the few that are left purportedly still exist!

I am not sure where you are heading with your Afghanistan piece.
First off:-
A. The US used 9/11 as the excuse to invade Afghanistan and get on with the oil pipeline building job.
B.Afghans do not welcome US invasion or attempted domination
C. So, upon your analysis this dynamic is to be diverted to pacify the resistance to get backj to point A?
I don't mention point A in my article, it's that point A is an older story. All those invasions, Iraq, Afghanistan (including Yugoslavia), are consequence of the unbelievable dirty deals, unjustified invasions under false pretenses.
What was the start to this mess? Nobody pays attention to Osama bin Laden's public declaration that it was not "us" [Muslims] who started the war; "We don't attack you because you are different; did we ever attack Sweden?"
