Just saw your post from 1999! Better late than never, I guess. Quick note of congrats for that one. Halyard was the greatest rescue of U.S. airmen in U.S Airforce history - and I'll bet only about 8 Americans even know about it.
For a country which digs deep in its history looking for heroes and patriots - I remain confused as to why this amazing episode has not been discovered by Hollywood yet. Agree with you, it's likely because you would have to thank the Serbs. That never stopped a good propagandist of course. You could just say "Yugoslavs" saved the men.
Boy, were we wrong on Kosovo. What a basket case, with Albanian Muslims killing and cleansing what few Serbs remain there with near impunity. No one cares, yet the victims sacrificed so much to save American pilots. Bizarre and sad indeed.

In Vagabond, October 1995, "Chinese--Muslim Alliance?" you wrote:
"Chinese national communism is a twin brother to German National Socialism. Totalitarianism, an improved economy, and inflated national pride -- it's all there."
You also wrote:
"Islam, because of its "Jihad" and its fundamentalists is at present the only religion that kills."
In Vagabond, November 2003,"Chirac Follows Petain's Pattern", you wrote:
China, pseudo-Communist country, busy boosting its economy, remains rather passive in the matter of international politics, and backward in military power.
In March-April 2004 issue, "Our Western Values", you wrote:
"The Muslim fanatics, not interested in politics, live in their regions in the Orient, with no intention of going to the West. They don't care about the West, and if we didn't go to them, they wouldn't come to us. But we went to them first. We grabbed their oil, their land, and when they kick back we accuse them of being terrorists. Yes, the bombing in Madrid was retaliation for Spanish involvement in Iraq and the mythical 'shock of civilizations' doesn't exist. It is sand thrown in our eyes by politicians and their complacent PR agencies and media."
You express extremely opposite views. How do you explain this?
I wrote the first article you quote in 1995 when I started Vagabond. The "Chirac" article I wrote in 2003, and "Our Western Values" is in the current issue. As you see, for me Vagabond is a long path of trial and error. The mind struggles and the situations change. In the past I answered a challenge: "I have been wrong before." WM
The author shows how to know your enemy in order to fight better. As for myself, I hold to my initial position: eliminate the cause and you won't have to fight the effect. WM
Iraq and Al Qaeda: Patterns of Terrorist Operations
Therefore, I say, `know the enemy and know yourself;'A vital part of knowing the enemy is knowing his symbology and his patterns of attacks over time. This report will describe five primary patterns of attack: three of which are fairly obvious by now and two a bit more subtle.
1. Al Qaeda cells tend to mount their signature attacks against fixed targets while a crescent moon is visible.
2. Alternatively, they also mount attacks where there is a significant numerological symbology, such as this month's attacks on Spanish commuter trains on the 911th day after 9/11/2001.
3. A third preference is to strike on Western secular and religious holidays, especially when the bonus of a crescent moon features during the holiday.
4. Improvised explosive device (IED) attacks against US convoys are particularly likely on Saturdays, the first day of the Muslim business week and the day after Friday prayers -the Islamic Sabbath.
5. Al Qaeda-Sunni fundamentalists like to attack Shiite congregations after Friday prayers as they leave their mosques, and during the festival of Ashura, as happened last month.
The complete formatted report may be viewed at: http://www.siri-us.com/issues.html
Today I went to participate in a ceremony at Old City Hall marking the day the bombs started to fall on Yugoslavia. The weather was miserable; perhaps over a hundred people, mostly Serbs, gathered there. There were prayers and a few speakers. Suddenly a bum, dressed in a clownish getup, barged in to interfere with the speeches, screaming, even trying to kick the participants. He wasn't Balkan, he wasn't Muslim, he was a black Canadian. He couldn't have had any interest or knowledge of the issue. He started to scream incoherently about Serbs and Kosovo, obviously not knowing what he was talking about. He could have been taken as drunk or deranged but it echoes an event I observed years ago at the same location, on the occasion of some Jewish commemoration. In both situations I saw the intruder as a paid provocateur. It's so easy to find somebody homeless and offer him 50 or 100 dollars to disturb an occasion. Not far away stood uniformed policemen who didn't mix with the crowd, just kept an eye on it. There were a few people who approached, asking them for help but the policemen kept to themselves. Finally, when more people came pleading, they strolled slowly through the crowd and evicted the intruder, a very easy task as the man was not powerful or armed. The crowd kept its composure and refrained from reacting even to the violent provocation. If the police had waited longer I don't know how the crowd would have been forced to react. The police would then have had the opportunity to make more than one arrest and the media would have the joy of reporting that the police had to separate "rioting Serbs." As usual, without telling how it started.

BBC 6 oclock news tonight gave a long and moving report on the burial of the ethnic Albanian boys whose deaths, according to the BBC, triggered the violence between Albanians and Serbs. There was not one reference to official UN sources who state that the Serbs had nothing to do with the drowning of the boys. Very few in the public have been informed about this denial which was quite discrete compared to the initial slander and on tonight's program there was not one word that Serbs had nothing to do with it. So, the slander continues. Who at the BBC has an interest in promoting hatred against the Serbs?
In your article in January, "Milosevic Trial versus Zundel Trial" you quoted Himmler who ordered that the Final Solution should remain a secret forever. The Nazis didn't really succeed in hiding one of the major facts of WW2. The NWO has been much more successful in hiding that the attack on Yugoslavia was an unprovoked crime. And now the punishment continues. The Serbs are punished for being punished. As it is in the best interests of the criminal West to hide forever that the Serbs did not provoke these Balkan Wars, they will maintain the myth of Serbs' eternal guilt. How long will it continue? Forever? The allies who succeeded in creating from Kosovo a black hole of crime on the European body may achieve their next objective: reducing the number of Serbs "until they fit under a plum tree" as the ninetheenth century Serbian prophet, Mitar Tarabich, predicted.

William,
This is a news item I saw today followed by the response I sent to Minister Graham.
CANADA CONDEMNS VIOLENCE IN KOSOVO Foreign Affairs Minister Bill Graham today issued the following statement strongly condemning the violent clashes between Albanian and Serb communities that swept across Kosovo, leaving at least 20 dead. "Canadians are very concerned about the escalating violence, which threatens the peace in Kosovo. We call on all parties to cooperate fully with local and international officials to put an end to this dangerous situation, and to exercise calm and restraint in order to avoid any further deterioration."
Hon.B.Graham!!!
PLEASE. If you are Minister of Foreign Affairs please check up on what is going on in your area of so-called responsibility! Criticise my sarcasm. I cannot be kind when a genocide is going on -- a genocide I might add that could have been prevented if our 'noble' Canadian government had been as brave over Kosovo as Chretien was regarding IRAQ!!! You are condemning "VIOLENT CLASHES" when a UN official has called it Kristallnacht for the Serbs!!!! (see footnote)
Would you have told the JEWS to cooperate with "local and international authorities" after their Kristallnacht???
In 1989, Milosevic told the Serbs of Kosovo that they would not be beaten again -- read the speech that is so often quoted to justify sending Milosevic to the Hague. It said people must live together, that Yugoslavia was richer for the variety of peoples there BUT he knew that the Albanian MAJORITY was trying to drive out the Serbs. For this OUR GOVERNMENT decided to help the Albanians drive them out. And now it's the end. Since the end of the cowardly bombing campaign we have listened to daily reports about how well things are going in Kosovo. What kind of press do we have that never challenged this? There is not one honest Serb who believed that. Kosovo has been burning for five years. Its churches and people have been destroyed and driven out while all the peacekeepers scrambled here and there, busily avoiding any confrontation with the Albanian majority. Today, when the Serbs are suffering perhaps their final moments in this MULTIETHNIC PEACEFUL society that our country has forced them to accept, you tell BOTH PARTIES to exercise calm and restraint. I am disgusted. I am sick. I understand now why it is horrible to live to an old age because you have to see over and over the dishonest actions of people who say they represent you and whom you wouldn't want to ask for help even if you were drowning in the shit they've piled up around them.
footnote: PRISTINA -- Wednesday - UN administrators have abandoned offices in the Kosovo towns of Gnjilane, Prizren and Pec, fleeing what one UNMIK official described to B92 as "Kristallnacht".
The political scene in Poland is known to be volatile and unpredictable. This is due to the most unfair and complicated proportional election law that is always modified to favour ruling parties to give them better odds in each upcoming election. Secondly it is because politics in Poland are characterized by the constant manipulation of public opinion in all major newspapers, radio and TV.
This time however, brought about the sudden demise of the ruling SLD party, comprised of former Communists. They have ruined the country with their ineptitude, greed and corruption and irresponsible abuses of the internal and external debt. Suddenly the SLD is "dead" and the political scene has been monopolized by "Platforma Obywatelska" - Citizen Platform and "Samoobrona" - Self Defence. These two highly polarized parties are to replace the monopoly of political power held so far by the ex-communists. The new political slogan in this fight is "Barbarians & Thieves", paraphrased from an infamous book by Witold Jedlicki; "The Boors and the Jews".
The Barbarians are the "Samoobrona". Mostly rough, uneducated but smart agricultural peasants skillfully directed by a handful of former Communists. Lately their popularity has been rising fast in the polls. The slide of support for former Communists of the SLD to a single digit in recent polls, has prompted many members of the SLD to jump ship to "Samoobrona" to stay in power. This is of no surprise as it is commonly known that "Samoobrona" became a known political party with the help of heavy financial support from the SLD. Now even the official organ of the SLD, the national daily "Trybuna" is praising the reckless "Samoobrona" as a being responsible political party and able to govern the country.
The Thieves are the "Platforma Obywatelska", vel Unia Wolnosci, vel Unia Demokratyczna, vel Komitety Obywatelskie of Lech Walesa, vel KOR. Frequent name changes were necessitated by a constant loss of popularity of this group. However with quick name changes and support of the omnipresent Jewish controlled media, they have been running neck and neck in the popularity polls with "Samoobrona". They have now openly declared "Samoobrona" as their main opponent and promised to fight them to the end.
Poles will have to decide in the future election who is going to govern them - Communist financed "Samoobrona" or the George Soros financed Thieves from the neo-liberal "Platforma". Many say that the open war declaration by "Platforma" will misfire on them as most voters will opt for the Barbarians. But the Thieves will argue that they are smarter than the Barbarians and will use international connections to lift Poland out of the worst crisis since it opted to be a free market economy.
But whoever wins, they will certainly lose. There are many stumbling blocks to the possibility of quick success. Poland's total debt is now 100 billion dollars and growing. The budget deficit is almost 60% of the GNP. Retirement plans are mostly bankrupt and there is no possibility of recovery as 80% of the university graduates want to work abroad. Even if they stayed in Poland it would not help much to finance any reasonable retirement as the average salary of a university graduate is just over $400 per month. Official unemployment is at the highest level ever, over 20%. The national health system has virtually collapsed and for years it has been plagued by nurse and doctor protests and strikes. There is not much money flowing from the proceeds of privatization, which has been filling budget holes until now. On top of that Poland has been burdened with the huge purchase of American F-16 jet fighters and got involved in a costly war in Iraq. The Polish military budget is four times larger than that of nuclear Pakistan. This month of May, Poland will join the European Union and in the same moment will lose preferential export tariffs in the USA. Plus it will face fierce product competition from much stronger, more greedy and desperate members of the EU. To add to this myriad of problems, Poland is totally dependent on the delivery of heating gas from Russia, who have already turned off the tap once this year.
Poland is now on the brink of total collapse but with high quality leadership it can rise to grow and prosper. The problem is that much like the defunct SLD, neither Thieves nor the Barbarians have quality leaders cabable of eliminating the budget deficit, re-negotiating the international contracts and stimulating the job market. This is because these the very same people are the source of the problems in Poland. They have been on the political scene for many years but have always preferred vindication and extortion to quality leadership. Even now the Thieves are running a negative political campaign against the Barbarians. "Lesser evil" campaigns are popular in Poland and always mean the election of mediocre leaders, much like in the USA.
At the same time the political center of Poland is vacant and ready for a new political party of honest and capable individuals, who will solve many problems and put the country in order. Neither greedy liberal Thieves or power hungry leftist Barbarians can come up with a centric common sense approach that most Poles would favour with their election votes. Members of both parties have learned to perform and tap dance at their political meetings and TV shows but there is a big difference between amateur dancing and professional hard work.
Who will rule Poland after the next election, Barbarians or Thieves? Or someone else? For many Poles it is a "to be or not to be" question. If you live there and care the about future of Poland, you must find the answer. For the vote for a better future for Poland is in your hands like never before.

I'm usually suspicious of terms like " the omnipresent Jewish controlled media..." or bank or Mason controlled media because conspiracy theories blur more than enlighten. Yes, politicians control the media; a fact that doesn't need the support of a conspiracy theory, because controlling what's controllable is part of their job, like it or not. Among the controllers may be Jews, bankers, Masons, but only as individuals and not as cohesive groups. Internet is part of the media and Vagabond is not controlled. It transcends any political platform. That people from various factions can freely confront each other helps to let off steam. The silent or silenced are more dangerous than those who speak. WM

"Democracy" - one man - one vote- and one President duly elected is not a bad idea. But, what if that elected President is Jean Bertrand Aristide, and the people see no light directly ahead for socio-economic advancement? Charisma lost, no food on the boil, and legitimacy is lost as well. Aristide is not Saddam Hussein, in the sense that he was freely and democratically elected. In Iraq, of course we will be seeing one man - one vote - one President after June 30th , 2004 - really? The elected leader in Haiti has now been given a thumbs down by Washington. The power of the bullet is ironically speaking more effectively than the ballot (or, at least as effectively as the bombs did in Iraq, to urge on regime change). Haiti's difference is that it is poor, has a misguided and frustrated populace who are now supporting overthrow of the President who has failed to deliver. Iraq, by contrast, was invaded and occupied by a foreign power in 2003. And so was Haiti by the US, in 1891, 1914-34, and 1994-96.
The real issue in Haiti is not "democracy" simpliciter. A people brutalised and impoverished for centuries need food, shelter, clothing, health care, and education to a far greater extent than they need to drop a ballot paper in a box. Socio-economic upliftment cannot be delivered by any Haitian leader overnight, and the pretext of "democracy" in Haiti is that it could leapfrog "first order survival rights" for a second order of " freedom and democracy". Putting the cart of political democracy, before the work-horse of basic survival needs for the people will forever see Haiti in crisis. Ten to fifteen years of a substantial national development plan ( on an optimistic and conservative estimate) is what a country such as Haiti needs to start on a path of necessary national development. Cuba's programmes of health care, low income housing, mass education and literacy prorammes post-1959 have far more to offer in practical terms than another quarter century of elections in Haiti, with or without Washington's help.
By contrast, "democracy" in Iraq remains a bad idea from a US foreign policy perspective, for it is evident that the voice of the people is also the voice of the Shite majority. A round of free and fair elections in Iraq will usher in a Shite leadership, and some variant of Islamic rule. Another round of elections in Haiti will usher in someone as leader, hopelessly inept, and without any effective answers for the real issues of health care, low income housing, jobs, mass education and literacy programmes.
Washington's installation of Aristide, or anyone else, without a genuine national programme for lasting socio-economic development shall be but a travesty labeling itself "democracy" in Haiti. If democracy is to have meaning for real human beings, it has to be of service beyond the political right to vote, and needs to be of relevance to socio-economic rights for decent human survival.
And so the world marches on -invasion in Iraq ( for freedom and democracy, of course, forget the oil). Invasion in Haiti - ( for freedom and democracy, of course, forget the food and the people's real needs). As Francis Fujiyama and the neolibearalists in Washington would definitely agree -let's all just be thankful we have democracy!!!

William,
I read your piece entitled, "Security, security- the religion of security." Maybe you are obliged to take the expressions of a fool ( George W.Bush) seriously, because so many people in America are also obliged to -- he remains the selected President of the United States until November, 2004.
Trouble is, if Kerry is elected, American foreign policy will not change that much -- it will only be modified to make it more palatable. There will only be two cheers for security (not the excessive three cheers of George Bush). Some shift back to a more desirable version of multilateralism ( Clinton era style) can be expected, but don't expect too more.
The situation is as bad as it looks. So, you might as well laugh a bit, unless you want to spend a lot of your energies on crying about the sad state the world is in. Here is a copy of my special award to Tony Blair, to help relieve some pain:-
16th December 2003
Prime Minister Anthony Blair
10 Downing Street
London SW1 A 2AA
England
Dear Prime Minister Blair,
It is a distinct pleasure to inform you that the 'NOTABLE committee for liar of the year' has by unanimous decision declared you ' NOTABLE liar of the year for 2003'. Normally, the committee makes its decision in January of the New Year. On this occasion, your mendacity so impressed us that for the first time in the committee's history exemption was made in acknowledgement of your achievements.
There can be no doubt that in your capacity as Prime Minister, you lied brilliantly in support of the war in Iraq. No less a person than Saddam Hussein, is reputed to have said of one of your falsehoods, that you had just uttered, "The mother of all lies". We crave your indulgence while we recall some of your finer moments.
We noted the unflinching servility with which you dedicated yourself to lying for President Bush as his poodle, in advancing the case for war against Iraq. The claim that Saddam had Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs) was a high point. It showed exceptional commitment to fabrication when months after Saddam's statue was toppled in Baghdad, and it was clear no WMDs existed, you resolutely lied on.
One cannot forget, when you were caught out on the fib about Iraq trying to buy uranium from Niger how you held fast to the lie. It showed strength of character when you shared the fib with your friend George Bush, and led him to repeat the lie in the State of the Union address. It did not go unnoticed that the CIA had dropped the Niger assertion, but you ducked in to another lie, embraced the original lie, and reasserted that the information shared with the CIA had been based on separate intelligence. That was clearly no simple cock-and-bull story, but a really imaginative and monstrous lie that greatly impressed the committee.
It was astoundingly brilliant when you faked the '45 minutes' Iraqi capacity for deployment of WMDs. Hans Blix's exposure of that lie, in his diplomatic turn of phrase as you having made a "fundamental mistake" never detracted you from further barefaced lying. Your performance in the House of commons, and your twisted-tongue statements have all helped to get you to the top. The use of the dodgy dossier before the Security Council has to be a source of much pride for you.
We recalled President Clinton's famous words, which had nearly earned him the prize, when he said, "I never had sex with that woman". The committee realised then that Monica had blown it, but Bill ended up blowing it too when he relented and said that he had made a mistake. By contrast Tony, under pressure you resolutely lied on, and that commanded our admiration and has made you, 'El numero uno fibber and fabricator'.
It is a distinct privilege to acknowledge that you are not an ordinary liar, but a liar of the first magnitude. Tony Blair, on behalf of the committee, I bestow upon you the honour 'NOTABLE LIAR FOR THE YEAR 2003'.
Congratulations.
Sincerely,
x
