The Strategic Issues Research Institute (of the United States) --SIRIUS, is an independent news and corporate consultancy ("think tank") headed by Benjamin Works and founded officially in 1990. SIRIUS has both a formal association with other specialist directors, usually over the Internet, and with an informal contributing readership. Our philosophy is no- nonsense and Centrist, as oppposed to dogmatic Conservative or Liberal. SIRIUS publishes an internet newsletter "Strategic Issues Today" covering defense and foreign affairs issues of concern to citizens of the United States and Canada.
A sample of recent titles:
Rambouillet - "A Failure to Communicate"
"Ending Saddam's Regime? A Continuing Story or End Game?"
Mr. Works consults on-air to CBS Radio Network and to FoxNews Cable TV and is frequently featured on radio programs in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Britain during military confrontations in the Arabian Gulf and elsewhere.

In binomial nomenclature:
"Homo Sapiens" is written Homo sapien. Capital letter in the genus, lower case in the species.

I checked at Alta Vista, among others: Homo sapien is found less than 2,000 times and Homo Sapiens, over 27,000. So it is definitely more popular though both are correct. I remarked that Homo sapien is applied more to philosophical, literary subjects, while Homo sapiens is more in the scientific vein. WM
The news media is full of itself this week commemorating the anniversary of a massacre in Kosovo a year ago. When will the same biased media commemorate the massacre on Kosovo field in 1389, when the area was overrun with Muslims and the churches turned into mosques? When will we hear a member of the clergy of the patriarchy of Pec speak about the situation? When will we see examples of the medieval Serbian frescoes in the churches of Decani on television? When will TV dare to show an image of prince Lazar in his mausoleum at Ravanica?
Bravo to the Serbian people for staring into the guns of the belligerent American and European troops ready to drop bombs on them! Thanks to you, William Markiewicz, for exposing the lies in the capitalistic press! Lets have more about Holbrooke winning multimillion dollar contracts for Credit Suisse while negotiating for the U.N. I recommend everyone should read your column, damit den Luegenblaettern der Verbrecher-Klasse das Schandmaul gestopft werde! Bravo!

Author of the book "Singers in Late Byzantine and Slavonic Painting" (Brill 1986)
and an article on Serbian painting in ZOGRAF XIV ('82)
This is an excerpt from an editorial I found in an American newspaper:
... guerrilla fighters are allegedly responsible for 30,000 deaths including those of many civilians. In response to this uprising, Serbia has intensified its own repression and violence against its 8-10 million Albanian citizens, sending its army against defenceless Kosovo Albanian villages and creating hundreds of thousands of refugees. Those who dared to defend Albanian causes in print in Yugoslavia, or questioned the army's brutality, were subjected to long imprisonment.
Reading this editorial we can really understand why Albright et al insist on bombing the Serbs. Whoops! Slight mistake! The editorial excerpt from the New York Times was really about the Kurdish situation in Turkey. Substitute 'Turkey' for Serbia and Yugoslavia and 'Kurds' for Kosovo Albanians.
