There are many polticians but few statesmen. The bureaucrats of politics operate through good looking but nonsensical theories. It's been fashionable to chase dictators in the Middle East and Central Asia in order to replace them with Democracy. Instead they opened the ground to the infinitely more dangerous Jihadists. Syria’s Assad has so far resisted the Jihadist’s collective assault, and the Westerners finally see the light and don't act on one side only. America and Russia are joining forces in favor of compromise in which the competing oppressive powers may become sufficientlv weakened for the locals to finally reach some freedom.
Why is Democracy the best? It is the only system that encourages freedom of thought without dictating what kind of thought.
