Communication

Contributions from readers who didn't object to having their email published in Vagabond Pages.

Sometimes I don't receive an answer to my request to publish a letter and I don't know how to interpret it. So I've decided to simplify things and not oblige readers to answer. WM

Philosophers...Hitler...Friends of Poland...Vagabond...Art...Low Cost Spaceflight

Philosophers from Krasnoyarsk

Dear colleagues!

"The Philosophy club" - an on-line magazine of the "Philosophy faculty" (social organization from Krasnoyarsk, Russia) informs you about our existence.

We invite you to get acquainted with us at the address <http://www.krasu.ru/opt/club/>

We'd like to know your opinion about the materials suggested in our magazine. We also would like to have your texts and thoughts on our site.

We are waiting for your reply to our suggestion. Let's cooperate!

After a bit of research I learned that the English version of this page is expected to begin in September. WM

'Was Hitler Jewish?'

Hello, my name is James Brindle. I am a sophomore at Aliso Niguel, currently attending summer school. I am doing extra credit, and was wondering if you could tell me if Hitler was Jewish, in any way of family member relations? I would appreciate a response to my letter <A.S.A.P>.

thank you,

James Brindle

James -- I don't know how seriously I should take your question. We will never know who had or didn't have some Jewish blood. Alain Peyrefitte, wrote a book called "Les Juifs" (the Jews) sometime in the 50s and his opinion was that there are two categories of Europeans: those who know they have Jewish blood and those who don't. Probably this also should be taken with a grain of salt. WM

'Friends of Poland'

Hello (Szanowny Panie!),

Your online Vagabond magazine came up in an Internet search I did today. Quite interesting! I'll definitely stop by again to read more.

Meanwhile, I'd like to invite you to Friends of Poland around the World, a Web-based club for people who are interested in Poland-related issues.

You'll find more information about the club at <http://members.aol.com/Informacja/discussion-lists/fop/around-the-world>

Best regards,

Marcin Zmudzki

Re: Vagabond

William, Nice to hear from you!..... Keep up the good work. I often recommend your site to those who write to me complaining about their and/or the world's situation.

Lowcost Spaceflight

14 Paradigms (Monkeys) of LowCost Spaceflight

by Millennium Twain

[space plasma physicist, father of the US/International Space Station Program, listed in the "Who's Who in the Frontiers of Science and Technology", discoverer of the superluminal lightwave topology of the proton, author of "The Undiscovered Physics"]

  1. Equatorial launch (30% payload increase)
  2. High Altitude launch (30%)
  3. In-Air Refueling (80%)
  4. In-Air Cryogen Collection (30%?)
  5. Materials Improvement (10% per year)
  6. Full-Trajectory Powered Ascent (40%)
  7. Full-Trajectory Powered Descent (20%)
  8. Large Aspect Ratio -- Small Ascent Surface Area
  9. Large Aspect Ratio -- Large Descent Surface Area, or
  10. Small Descent Surface Area, with Large Deployable 'HeatShield' or 'Tethered Ballute'
  11. Ion Thrusting/Shielding Descent
  12. On-Orbit Fuel Storage and Refueling (20%)
  13. On-Orbit Materials and Systems Storage and Maintenance (20%)
  14. Aeroshell/Ionoshell 'Impedance' Matching/Coupling (Active, Passive & Design)

The existing Spaceplane (US B2 Stealth 'Bomber') fleet consists of at least 20 vehicles. Twenty more have been requested. The B2 Spaceplane utilizes monkeys 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14 and perhaps 1, 10 and 11. This covert spaceplane delivers a payload of 40,000 to 50,000 lbs, twenty to twenty five tons. [For many many public domain photos/info search <www.metacrawler.com> -- using keywords B2, Stealth and Bomber. Visit <www.rotaryrocket.com> to view a commercial VTOVL (Vertical-TakeOff-Vertical-Landing) spaceliner project that uses monkeys 5, 6, 7 with a bit of 10 thrown in via the 'props'.]

William,

Got your note, The 14 Paradigms, Monkeys, listed are techniques, design or mission characteristics, by which low-cost spaceplanes are made, or can be made.

Do you want me to expand on them?

[For example -- Monkey #1 "Equatorial launch (30% payload increase)" -- means if you launch from the Earth's equator, rather than from high latitudes, you get a 30% increase in payload, or a %30 decrease in launch cost. Similarly, Monkey #2 "High Altitude launch (30%)" -- if you launch from a high altitude, you get another 30% increase. Because you do not have to punch through all the heavy lower atmosphere.]

The first two paradigms, #1 and #2, are the only ones widely admitted and published by NASA, etc. The others, particularly #3 "In-Air Refueling", are not discussed far outside the US Air Force -- as otherwise it would be obvious to the public (and then the world) how trivial access to space is by the military and the aerospace industry.

Thus, I give to you (and the world) for the first time in herstory, the 14 Paradigms (Monkeys) of Low Cost Spaceflight.

Ad astra per aspera, I am happy to answer any questions, on any of the Paradigms.

In 1999,

Millennium Twain "<M.Twain>"
